You're never too young for Intro to Philosophy. Descartes, Plato, Kant...child's play (as illustrated by the above photo). At least that's what Chavo always taught me...
Well, imagine my surprise to return from LA to discover that I've been "outed".
Yes, as a young child philosophy was my passion. Those dusty tomes of Plato, Socrates, Descartes et al. Later, (three years old) my thoughts turned to political science - Hobbes, Locke, and Humes.
At age five, I felt confident enough to tackle Kant and Hegel. At seven I was deeply troubled by the nihilism of Nietzche, but compelled by Heidegger's Being and Time.
By puberty, Sartre was my existential dream (well not really as the Playboy magazines under mattress can attest to - then, not now), but No Exit was a close second. Hustler didn't exist then.
I've since rejected existentialism, deconstructionism and pretty much every ism, except one.
Pay it forward-ism. That is, your impact on the world is always at arms reach, like the butterly effect in chaos theory, the choices and interactions with people on a personal level, have much greater ramifications on the aggregrate than we can ever know. Just watch It's a Wonderful Life and you'll know what I mean.
Or more succinctly put many, many years ago...
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
Now if you'll excuse me, I think I'll go and ponder the non linearity of evolution.
The raison d' etre of this blog is to bring a little cheer and happiness in the world. This is an apolitical zone, so if you're looking for a polemic you won't find it here. Our hope is that you'll find the posts inspirational, bring you joy and help you to walk in beauty. If you're interested in becoming a resident of the house of love, contact Chavo.

Ciao!
Don't ponder that too deeply. Wouldn't want you to grow a sixth finger.
